Awards & Scholarship
Each year, many awards are presented at our provincial conference.
They are comprised of awards for posts as well as members. Awards include:

- Alumni Award
- Ralph Davis Memorial Scholarship
The only way you can win these awards is if you submit applications! Applications must be emailed or POSTMARKED by March 30th, 2020. No late applications will be accepted. Please note, you must be a Chartered Post in order to win awards.
Hawkins Award – Outstanding Junior AYer
This award is presented annually to a Junior AY Member recognizing their outstanding involvement over the past year. This award is named after Alan Hawkins, a former chairperson of the Allied Youth NL Advisory Committee.
Dove Award – Outstanding Senior AYer
This award is presented annually to a Senior AY Member recognizing their outstanding involvement over the past year. This award is named after Dave Dove, a former chairperson of the Allied Youth NL Advisory Committee.
Chalker Award – Outstanding General Member
This Award is presented annually to a general member of Allied Youth at the Post level who best exemplifies the motto, “You only get out of AY, what you put into it”. It is dedicated to Mrs. Ellen Chalker, a long-time supporter and past Provincial Coordinator of the AY organization. There is a $50 cash award presented to the winner.
Kathleen Neal Leadership Award – Leadership Development on the Post Executive
This perpetual award, donated by Mr. and Mrs. Neal of Corner Brook, NL in 2006, recognizes leadership at the Post level. Mr. and Mrs. Neal were the first community Post Advisors. It is presented to the AYer who has shown significant leadership development throughout the AY year and who serves on their Post Executive. There is a $50 cash award presented to the winner.
Alcock Award – Outstanding Post Advisor
The Alcock Award is presented annually to a Post Advisor from Newfoundland & Labrador AY that has shown immense dedication not only to the provincial program but also to their Post & its members. The award is dedicated to Mrs. Jean Alcock, the first NL AY Post Advisor in Corner Brook, NL.
Margaret Powell Memorial Shield – Outstanding School Involvement
This award is presented annually in memory of Margaret Powell, Corner Brook, NL, who was the first President of an Allied Youth Post in Newfoundland. It is presented to the Post which has shown considerable influence in its school during the past year.
John Nolan Cup – Outstanding Community Involvement
This award is presented annually to the Post which has shown considerable influence in its community during the past year. Mr. John Nolan donated the award when he was Minister of Municipal Affairs.
Dawe Award – Outstanding Positive Lifestyles Initiatives
This award is presented annually to the Post that has promoted and developed positive lifestyle initiatives aimed at fellow peers and the community, throughout the Allied Youth year. This award was donated by Mrs. Joan Dawe, the assistant deputy Minister of Community Health in 1994.
St. Lawrence Shield – Most Improved Post
This award is presented annually to the Allied Youth Post which has shown the greatest improvement in overall Post performance in the Post year. This award is dedicated to the AY Members that lost their lives while traveling to an AY Rally.
Yearbook Award – AY NL
This award is presented annually to the best yearbook compiled by an AY Post. The yearbook must be in electronic form and will be displayed during one night of the Conference.
50th Anniversary Hammond Award – Dedication to Youth Issues
This award is presented annually to the Allied Youth Post who best inspires their members to learn more about the issues facing youth today. Dedicated to Walter Hammond at the 50th Anniversary Conference for his ongoing contribution to Allied Youth Newfoundland and Labrador with over 20 years of service.
The Ralph Davis Memorial – Allied Youth Educational Scholarship
One award, valued at $500.00, available to AY Members across Newfoundland and Labrador presently in their final year of high school.
The Alumni Award
The Alumni Award is given at Provincial Conference to an Alumnus of the AY Program who has exemplified outstanding contributions to the AY program during their involvement.
